The American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins are offered by the United States Mint on an annual basis in three different versions. The one version that has been available every year since 1986 is the BU coin. The two numismatic coins, the Proof and Burnished versions, have been available since 1986 and 2006, respectively. Each year, you can find certified versions of these coins available. Right now, you can buy certified-perfect 2020-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
With your purchase of the 2020-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin in this Provident Metals listing, you will receive a coin that is in PF70 condition. Coins in this condition are considered perfect specimens that exhibit full, original mint luster and present with no detracting flaws of any kind. UCAM labels are for proof coins with a stunning contrast between the strong, frosted designs and the deeply-mirrored, clear fields. The included First Day of Issue label indicates a coin that was received within 24 hours of its initial release to be graded.
Obverse
Walking Liberty is depicted in left-profile relief on the obverse of 2020-W Proof American Eagle Silver Coins. This effigy of Liberty debuted in 1916 on the US half dollar. It depicts Liberty walking toward the sun on the horizon as it crests a mountain. The inscriptions on this side read LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, 2020, and the W mint mark of the West Point Mint.
Reverse
For the reverse face of 2020-W Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins, the US Mint features the heraldic eagle of the United States. This design originated in 1795 on some of the nations earliest coins. It was modernized for the release of the American Eagle Silver Coin in 1986 by John Mercanti. The front-facing eagle supports the US national shield as it clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons. Inscriptions on this side include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and 1 OZ. FINE SILVER ONE DOLLAR.
History
While the BU American Eagle has been issued each year since 1986, the Proof and Burnished Coins have suffered pauses in production. Amid sky-high demand in 2009 for the BU coin and a shortage of available silver blanks, the US Mint paused both the Proof and Burnished coins. While the Proof returned in 2010, the Burnished coin was paused for another year.
