In creating the V75 privy mark for the Proof American Eagle Silver and Gold Coins, the United States Mint turned to the heart of the National World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. The shape of the privy mark itself is reflective of the Rainbow Pool, a reflecting pool built in D.C. in the 1920s and renamed the Rainbow Pool in 1924. It has 124 water jets that create a rainbow effect when all jets are firing at the same time. The Rainbow Pool was chosen as the site of the memorial in 2001 and it was integrated into the design of the honorary site.

Obverse

Walking Liberty is found on the obverse side of 2020-W V75 Privy Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin. The design of Liberty was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman and features Liberty walking in left-profile relief toward the sun cresting the peak of a mountain. The inscriptions on this face of the coin include Liberty, In God We Trust, and 2020. The V75 privy is also featured on this side with an inscription of V75 at the center.

Reverse

In the reverse design, the 2020-W V75 Privy Proof American Eagle Silver Coin comes with the design of the heraldic eagle. First introduced on American coins in 1794, the design has been modernized several times throughout American history. The eagle is in front-facing relief supporting the US national shield as it clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons. Inscriptions on this side of the coin include United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, and 1 oz. Fine Silver One Dollar.

History

The Proof American Eagle Silver Coin has been available since 1986, with only the 2009 coin not being issued in the decades since. The Great Recessions impact on silver demand resulted in the US Mint pausing collectible American Eagle Silver Coins in 2009 to focus on coining the Brilliant Uncirculated specimens.

Ordering
