Obverse

Lady Liberty features on the obverse side of 2021 American Eagle Gold Coins. This effigy of Liberty was designed in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and featured on the $20 Double Eagle Gold Coin from 1907 to 1933. The inscriptions on this face include LIBERTY and 2021.

Reverse

A new bald eagle design is featured on the reverse field of 2021 American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins. This design was created Jennie Norris and depicts a bald eagle in left-profile relief with its beautiful plumage, hooked beak, and piercing gaze. Inscriptions on this field of the coin read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD, and 25 DOLLARS.

History

The American Eagle Gold Coins were originally issued with Roman numerals for the date marks. This was applied to coins from 1986 to 1991. In 1992, the US Mint transitioned the date marks to Arabic numerals. This represented the only previous change in design elements on the coins.

Ordering

These 2021 American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins are available in near-perfect condition. Mint State 69 coins have full, original mint luster and no more than two minor detracting flaws. Acceptable flaws at this level include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines located outside of the primary focal points. The Early Release label applies to coins received for grading within 30 days of the initial release date.
