The American Eagle Coins from the United States Mint will feature new reverse designs of the American bald eagle in the silver and gold collections for the first time in the history of the series. New reverse designs are planned for release around mid-2021, with the initial releases of 2021 American Eagles moving forward with the historic design combinations in use since 1986.
When you purchase 2021 American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins in this Provident Metals listing, all of the coins you receive come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are offered individually inside of protective plastic flips or in multiples of 40 gold coins housed in acrylic tubes.
The obverse of the 2021 American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coin depicts Lady Liberty in front-facing relief. Considered by many to be the greatest American coin design of the 20th century, this bust of Liberty was created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and shows an empowered figure with a free-flowing robe as she walks forward offering a guiding light for the nation and a hope for peace. The inscriptions on this side include only Liberty and 2021.
On the reverse side of 2021 American Eagle Gold Coins is the final use of the Miley Busiek design featuring a family of American bald eagles. As the male flies overhead, a female eagle shelters a young hatchling with her wing. The inscriptions on this face of the coin read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, In God We Trust, and 1/2 oz Fine Gold 25 Dollars.
Not only will the 2021 American Eagle Gold Coin release from the United States Mint be the first coins in the series with a new design since the 1986 debut, but it will also be the first year ever in the series to feature two different designs in any given release year. The US Mint always begins the coining of new releases in the late months of the previous year. With the new 2021 designs not ready in late 2020 for coining, the mint will continue with the historic design combination until roughly mid-2021 when new designs will begin to feature on the coins issued as of that point.
