The mintage levels of American Gold Eagle Coins change every year, with variations in the number of coins produced. Since their introduction in 1986, the coins have been obtainable in four different weights, and the 1/4 oz gold coin is typically one of the least minted coins in the series each year. Today, you have the chance to get 2021 American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins online from Provident Metals in near-perfect condition.
Highlights:
American Gold Eagles come with four weights each year in the BU and Proof collections. The BU coins featured 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold weights each year right from the 1986 debut of the series. The 1/4 oz gold coin is often one of the lowest minted and was the second lowest in 2021.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2021 Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Type 1 Coin displays the portrait of Lady Liberty, which was created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907 and reintroduced in 1986 for the Gold Eagle series. Lady Liberty is depicted in front-facing relief, holding a torch and an olive branch.
Reverse
Miley Busiek’s design graces the reverse of the 2021 American Eagle Gold Type 1 Coins, featuring an American bald eagle family. The male eagle is depicted in flight with an olive branch in its talons, while the female eagle watches over the hatchlings in the nest.
History
The 2021 release of American Eagle Gold Coins included these Type 1 specimens with the original reverse design from Miley Busiek. With the debut of the Type 2 design midway through the year, the series was overhauled for the first time in its history.
