Obverse

The obverse of 2021 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins comes with a depiction of Walking Liberty. This historic design was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman for the US half dollar and appeared on that coin through 1947. The Type 2 issues in 2021 have a new feature that brings the design element closer to Weinmans original 1916 version. You will now find his AW initials as a signature mark on the obverse field. Other inscriptions include Liberty, In God We Trust, and 2021.

Reverse

On the reverse side of the 2021 American Eagle Silver Coin is an image of the American bald eagle. This all-new image captures the bird in its natural state, flying through the air with its wings flexed and its talons clutching an oak branch. Inscriptions on this side read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, and 1 oz. Fine Silver – One Dollar.

History

Emily Damstra is the designer behind the new reverse design on the American Eagle Silver Coin. Her depiction of the bald eagle in flight was chosen from more than 30 competing designs to represent the series moving forward.
