Obverse
Walking Liberty is found on the obverse side of 2021 American Eagle Silver Type 2 Coins. This design from Adolph A. Weinman was created in 1916 for the US half dollar. It comes with inscriptions of Liberty, In God We Trust, and 2021. You will now notice that Weinmans AW initials are on the obverse field with the release of Type 2 coins. This addition was made to bring the design closer to the original work by Weinman.
Reverse
A new American bald eagle image is featured in the reverse design of 2021 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Type 2 Coins. Created by Emily Damstra, the design shows the bald eagle swooping down with its wings stretched back behind its frame and its talons extended to grasp an oak branch. The inscriptions on this side of the coin read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, and 1 oz. Fine Silver One Dollar.
History
Emily Damstras new design for the reverse of 2021 American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins beat out at least 30 other possible designs. She is currently a member of the United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program and has decades of experience in coin designing.
