History

This is the first-ever change to the design of any American Eagle BU coin. The American Eagle Gold Coin will also receive a new reverse design capturing a realistic depiction of the bald eagle in its own Type 2 release in 2021. Both coins will continue with the existing Liberty designs on the obverse.
