History

Among the greats, Sima Yi stands out because he possessed both military expertise and governing acumen in his home state of Cao Wei. Not only did he defend his homeland from invasions by rivals in the Three Kingdoms, but he achieved a successful state coup that ousted the corrupt regent Cao Shuang and made Yi Cao Weis de facto leader.
