History

The Australian Kangaroo Gold Series launched with 1987 date marks in late 1986. The series was issued until 1989 as the Australian Nugget Gold collection boasting new images of gold nuggets discovered in Australia on the obverse. In 1990, the kangaroo took over as the design element on the reverse.
