Obverse

Queen Elizabeth II is found on the obverse face of 2021 Australian Kookaburra 1 Kilo Silver Coins. This image of the Queen was developed in 2015 by Jody Clark and shows the Queen with the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head in a right-profile portrait. Also included in the design are earrings and the Victorian coronation necklace. The inscriptions found on this face include Elizabeth II, Australia, and 30 Dollars.

Reverse

A kookaburra is depicted on the reverse of 2021 Australian Kookaburra Silver Coins in a design from Aleysha Howarth. The imagery featured here shows the kookaburra sitting on a perch in a gum tree. The branch of the tree has seedpods included below as the kookaburra looks to its left. The inscriptions on this side of the coin read Australian Kookaburra, 2021 1 Kilo 9999 Silver, and a P mint mark from the Perth Mint. This side of the coin includes a microscopic security element within the inscription of Australian Kookaburra and is available only under magnification.

History

The Australian Kookaburra coins were the first major silver bullion specimens from the Perth Mint offered annually. Following the 1990 introduction of the series, more wildlife-themed silver bullion coins would debut in the 21^st century with the Australian Koala collection in 2007, the Australian Wedge Tail Eagle in 2014, the Australian Kangaroo in 2016, and the Australian Emu in 2018.
