The designer of the images in the 2021 Australian Lunar Ox release is Ing Ing Jong. Hired by the Perth Mint in 2011, Ms. Jong developed her first artwork for a Lunar Series release in 2013. Her first design in the lunar range for Perth was the Year of the Snake design in the 2013 Lunar Series II release, and she has developed several more designs each year since that time for the Perth Mint.

Obverse

On the obverse side of 2021 Australian Lunar Ox 1 oz Silver Coin, you will find an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is featured in right-profile relief with the George IV State Diadem Crown. This piece of the Crown Jewels was commissioned in 1820 during the first year of the reign of King George IV. The inscriptions include Elizabeth II, Australia, 1 oz 9999 Ag, and One Dollar.

Reverse

The reverse face of 2021 Australian Lunar Ox 1 oz Silver Coins includes a depiction of the oxen in the foreground and a small, quiet farming village in the distant background. The image of the oxen includes an adult ox with its young calf beneath the overhanging branch of a cherry blossom tree. The inscriptions found on this side read 2021 Ox and the Chinese symbol for the word ox.

History

The Year of the Ox is second in the 12-year cycle of the Zodiac. The Year of the Ox now features for the third time in Lunar Series collections from the Perth Mint following the Lunar Series I coin in 1997 and the Lunar Series II coin in 2009.
