Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is shown on the obverse side of the 2021 Australian Lunar Ox 5 oz Silver Coin available here. The image shows the Queen at the age of 89 wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head. For the first time on an Australian coin since 1966, the Queens neckline and shoulders are visible within the portrait design. Inscriptions on this face of the coin read Elizabeth II, Australia, 5 oz 9999 Ag, and 8 Dollars.
Reverse
Two oxen are depicted in the obverse design of the 2021 Australian Lunar Ox Silver Coins. Ing Ing Jongs creation for the 2021 coin depicts an adult ox with a young calf nearby as the two stand beneath the branch of a cherry blossom tree. In the distant background, you will notice the outline of a humble farming village. The inscriptions on this side of the coin include 2021 Ox and the Chinese symbol for the ox.
History
Ing Ing Jong has designed yet another image for the Perth Mint and its Lunar Series programs. Hired in 2011, her first contribution to a lunar program came with the Year of the Snake design in 2013 and continues today in the Lunar Series III collection that launched in 2020.
