As early as the reign of the Yellow Emperor, the Emperors of China were said to be linked to the Chinese dragon. As a long-held symbol of power and authority, the dragon was a natural emblem for the Emperor of China to align with in pursuit of legitimate power.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2021 Australian Rectangular Dragon 1 oz Silver Coin, you will find an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. In this right-profile portrait, Her Majesty is featured at the age of 89 with the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head. The effigy is the fifth-generation design for British coins and the sixth-generation design for Australian coinage. For the first time since 1966, the Australian design showcases Her Majesty with her full neckline and shoulders included. Inscriptions on this face of the coin include Elizabeth II, Australia, 1 oz 9999 Ag, 1 Dollar, and 2021.
Reverse
The reverse field of 2021 Australian Rectangular Dragon Silver Coins includes an all-new effigy of the Chinese dragon. This years image of the Chinese dragon is the closest youll come to the mythological creature. While other releases in the series have focused on side-profile effigies of the beast, this design brings the beasts face right to the front-and-center design field. The body of the beast coils up behind it in the shape of a figure-eight. In the upper-right field, you will notice the P mint mark of the Perth Mint.
History
Each year of availability in the Australian Rectangular Dragon Silver Series has offered a new design of the Chinese on the reverse. Most of the designs to date have offered images of the dragon with symbols of water and/or wind. This years design is new in its focus on the raw power of the beast.

2021 Australian Rectangular Dragon 1 oz Silver Coins are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins will ship individually inside of plastic flips, in plastic tubes for multiples of 20, or in Monster Boxes for multiples of 200 coins.
