Bearing images of Queen Elizabeth II and the sugar maple leaf, the gold coins of the Canadian Maple Leaf Series are some of the longest-running gold bullion coins available to investors. Introduced in 1979, the Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin became the worlds first 24-karat gold bullion coin in 1982 when its purity was boosted from .999 to .9999 pure gold content.
With your purchase of 2021 Canadian Maple Leaf 1/2 oz Gold Coins in this Provident Metals listing, you will receive coins that are packaged either individually or in multiples of 10 gold coins. The individual coins ship in protective plastic flips while multiples of 10 coins are housed in sealed sheets from the Royal Canadian Mint.
Queen Elizabeth II is found on the obverse side of 2021 Canadian Maple Leaf 1/2 oz Gold Coins. This bust of Her Majesty comes from Susanna Blunt and was created for the Royal Canadian Mint in 2003 as the fourth-generation effigy of the Queen for Canadian coins. This design includes radial lines in the background field with inscriptions of Elizabeth II and 20 Dollars 2021.
A sugar maple leaf is featured on the reverse of the 2021 Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coins. Designed in 1979 by Walter Ott, this image of the sugar maple leaf was created for the debut of this series. It captures the natural wonder and detail of the sugar maple leaf, with inscriptions included that read Canada, 9999, and Fine Gold 1/2 oz Or Pur.
Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coins debuted in 1979 with only 1 oz gold available, but expanded over the decades to offer investors four fractional-ounce coins and a 1 Gram gold option as well. The 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz coins debuted in 1982, these 1/2 oz gold coins in 1986, the 1/20 oz gold coin in 1993, and the 1 Gram gold coin in 2014. The only coin ever removed was the 1/15 oz gold coin offered only in 1994 to mark the 15th anniversary of the series debut.
