History

The history of werewolves in Canadian folklore actually dates back to France during the reign of King Louis XF. A series of deaths in southern France at that time were attributed to a creature known as the Beast of Gevaudan, resulting in the king putting a bounty on the head of the beast. French settlers moving to New France, the region now known as Quebec, either brought the beast with or brought legend along to Canadian shores.
