In 2021, the US Mint honored the centennial of the 1921 issue of Morgan Dollars, the last in the history of this US silver dollar design. The Carson City Mint issued Morgan Dollars for a total of 13 years in the 19th century. Obverse
The obverse of the 2021 Morgan Dollar Silver Coin comes with a depiction of Lady Liberty. She is captured in left-profile relief with a coronet crown and a laurel wreath on her head. The inscriptions include E PLURIBUS UNUM and 2021.
Reverse
On the reverse side of 2021-CC Privy Morgan Dollars, you will find the image of the heraldic eagle of the United States. The coins come with a front-facing bald eagle clutching the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace. The eagle is flanked by a wreath and the field has inscriptions of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and ONE DOLLAR. The CC privy mark is present above the DO in dollar and honors the Carson City Mint.
History
This 2021 Morgan Dollar was issued by the Philadelphia Mint with a commemorative CC privy mark. This honors the Carson City Mint, which closed in 1893. Carson City issued the coins from 1878 to 1885 and again from 1889 to 1893.
