The Morgan Dollars were popular silver dollars issued by the United States Mint in the 19th and 20th centuries. The coins were first introduced in 1878 and produced annually until 1904. After a 17-year hiatus in silver dollar coining, the US Mint resumed producing fresh silver dollars in 1921 with the reintroduction of the Morgan Dollar. This last strike in 1921 celebrates its centennial in 2021. The US Mint issued a variety of silver bullion commemorative Morgan Dollars in 2021 to celebrate this landmark. Today, you have the opportunity to get certified-perfect 2021 CC Privy Morgan Dollar Silver Coins online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The Carson City Mint was a unique branch mint of the US Mint system. Like the Dahlonega and Charlotte Mints opened before it in the 1830s, the Carson City Mint was opened in the 1870s as a purpose-built mint. The goal of the Carson City Mint was to produce coinage for the United States using locally-sourced metals. While Charlotte and Dahlonega used early gold discoveries to mint coinage, the Carson City Mint used the massive discoveries of the Comstock Lode to produce silver coins.
Obverse
On the obverse side of 2021 CC Privy Morgan Dollar Silver Coins is a depiction of Liberty. Created by George T. Morgan, the image shows Liberty in left-profile relief wearing the laurel wreath and coronet crowns on her head. The field includes 13 stars and inscriptions of E PLURIBUS UNUM and 2021.
Reverse
The reverse face of the 2021 CC Privy Morgan Dollar Silver Coins comes with an image of the heraldic eagle of the United States. The image of the heraldic eagle includes a front-facing bald eagle clutching the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace, with its head looking to the left field of the coin where the olive branch is in its talon. The inscriptions on this side include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and ONE DOLLAR. There is a CC privy mark on this side that is beneath the wreath of oak and laurel, just above the D and O in DOLLAR.
History
The Carson City Mint issued the lowest number of Morgan Dollars on an annual basis. The coins were issued from 1878 to 1885, and again from 1889 to 1893 before the Carson City Mint closed for good.
