Obverse

Winged Victory is the primary design element of the obverse field of the 2021 Mexican Libertad 1 oz Silver Coin. Her figure is shown at the top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column in this design as the mountain peaks of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl rise toward the sky in the distant background. The coin comes with inscriptions of 1 Onza, Plata Pura, 2021 Ley .999, and the OM mint mark of the Mexican Mint.

Reverse

The national coat of arms appears on the reverse of the 2021 Mexican Libertad Silver Coin not once, but 11 times. The larger, central design is that of the modern seal for the nation depicting a powerful golden eagle battling a rattlesnake on a prickly pear cactus. The seal is encircled by a wreath and the inscription of Estados Unidos Mexicanos. The outer design field has 10 historic versions of the same design used throughout Mexican history.

History

Founded in 1535, it was once a branch mint for the Spanish Empire that struck colonial currency for Spanish colonies throughout the Western Hemisphere.
