The United States Mint strikes millions of versions of its American Eagle Silver bullion coins each year. In the course of striking millions of coins, errors do occur that result in distinctive pieces. When you purchase one of these 2021 (P) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins from Provident Metals, the item you receive comes with a near-perfect grade and is an example of a Mint Error issue from the United States Mint. Mint State 69 coins showcase full, original mint luster and come with no more than two minor flaws. Examples of flaws at this grade include minuscule contact marks or hairlines located only outside of the primary focal points of the coin. Early Release coins are those the NGC receives within 30 days of the initial release point from the US Mint. The Mint Error identified on these coins is what is known as reverse strike-through. In other words, a foreign substance got between the die and the blank in the coining press while the reverse design was being struck onto the coins.

Obverse

Walking Liberty graces the obverse side of 2021 (P) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins. Designed by Adolph A. Weinman, this 1916 work of art was groundbreaking when it was used on the US half Dollar from 1916 to 1947. It was one of the first two effigies of Liberty to break the mold of designs based on depictions of Liberty from Classical Antiquity. Libertys figure is shown walking from right to left across the design field with inscriptions of Liberty, In God We Trust, and 2021.

Reverse

For the final time in the history of the series, the heraldic eagle is found on the reverse of 2021 (P) American Eagle Silver Coins. This version of the national seal was created in 1986 by John Mercanti and has featured each year on the reverse of the coins. It shows the bald eagle in front-facing relief in support of the US national shield. The inscriptions on this side read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, and 1 oz. Fine Silver – One Dollar.

History

2021 is the 35th anniversary of the series and marks the last time the heraldic eagle will appear. With the original reverse design set to be replaced on 2021-dated coins by July 2021, the 2021 date mark will also be the first in the series with two different design combinations used in the same year.
