American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins are produced by the West Point Mint on an annual basis, with few exceptions. As of 2011, the US Mint has turned to the San Francisco Mint for supplemental coining when the capacity at West Point is exceeded by demand. In 2020, demand was so high and staffing at West Point so low as a result of the COVID pandemic that the US Mint turned to the Philadelphia Mint for emergency coining assistance. This has again proven to be an issue in 2021 as the Philadelphia Mint is again releasing early 2021 coins to help meet emergency demand. Right now, you can buy 2021 (P) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins in perfect condition online at Provident Metals.

Obverse
Walking Liberty is found on the obverse side of 2021 (P) American Eagle Silver Coins. This design comes from Adolph A. Weinman and was originally featured on the US half dollar coin from 1916 to 1947. The design captures Libertys figure in left-profile relief as she walks toward the sun rising over a mountain peak on the horizon. She is draped in the American flag and carries branches of oak and laurel in her left hand. Inscriptions include Liberty and 2021.
Reverse
For the final time in the history of the series, the heraldic eagle of the United States features on the reverse of 2021 (P) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins. This design was modernized in 1986 by John Mercanti and depicts a powerful bald eagle supporting the US national shield. Other elements include the arrows of war and an olive branch of peace in the birds talons, as well as a triangular cluster of 13 stars over its head. The inscriptions read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, and 1 oz. Fine Silver – One Dollar.
History
The heraldic eagle design will be replaced by mid-2021 on the reverse of American Eagle Silver Coins. The design was first developed in 1794 by Robert Scot, 1st Chief Engraver of the United States Mint, and has featured in various iterations on American coins since that time. Others who have modernized the design over the last two-plus centuries include Chief Engravers Charles E. Barber, George T. Morgan, and John Mercanti, who served as the 12th Chief Engraver from 2006 to 2010.
