In order to meet the demand for American Eagle Silver Coins in 2020, the US Mint pressed the Philadelphia Mint into the production of the coins for the first time in two decades. The Philadelphia Mint last issued the coins in 1999 and 2000, and its 2020 release was an emergency issue to meet demand as the West Point Mint limited staffing to meet COVID-19-related safety measures for its staff. In 2021, the continuing pandemic and demand for silver resulted in more emergency releases from Philadelphia. Provident Metals happily offers the 2021 (P) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin to you for purchase online in near-perfect condition.
The Philadelphia Mint had a short stint in charge of BU American Eagle Silver Coin production in 1999 and 2000. This followed the 1986-1998 production of the coins at the San Francisco Mint and preceded the 2001-present production of the coins at the West Point Mint. While the San Francisco Mint has provided supplemental coining when needed since 2011, the Philadelphia Mints 2020 and 2021 issues of the coins were considered emergency releases to meet extreme situations.
The obverse field of 2021 (P) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins features the image of Walking Liberty. Her effigy features a left-profile depiction of the female personification as she walks from right to left across the design field of the coin. The inscriptions include Liberty, In God We Trust, and 2021.
On the reverse face of the 2021 (P) American Eagle Silver Coin is a depiction of the heraldic eagle of the United States. In use for the final time, the heraldic eagle offers a vision of a front-facing bald eagle supporting the US shield. The eagle has a triangular cluster of 13 stars over its head, a banner in its beak that reads E Pluribus Unum and its talons clutching the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace. Other inscriptions include United States of America and 1 oz. Fine Silver One Dollar.
The Philadelphia Mints continued assistance with emergency coining is required to both meet sustained demand for the American Eagle Silver Coin and to accommodate the continued staffing limitations of the West Point Mint amidst the pandemic.
2021 (P) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins are available here in near-perfect condition. Mint State 69 coins have full, original mint luster and just two minor detracting flaws. Acceptable flaws at this level are limited to minuscule contact marks or hairlines. These flaws must be outside the primary focal points of the coin. First Day of Issue coins are those received for grading within 24 hours of release by the US Mint.
