The American Eagle Silver Coins are produced in a Brilliant Uncirculated version each year by the West Point Mint. Since 2011, the San Francisco Mint has resumed coining the specimens as well with regular supplemental coining to support demand and increase capacity beyond the West Point Mint. In 2020, the Philadelphia Mint again issued the coins as an emergency release during the COVID-19 pandemic. The same has occurred in 2021, with more coins available from the Philadelphia Mint. Today, you have the opportunity to get 2021 (P) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins in perfect condition online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Prior to 2020, the Philadelphia Mint had not issued BU American Eagle Silver Coins since 2000. The coins were initially struck at the San Francisco Mint from 1986 to 1998. The 1999 and 2000 releases were struck at Philadelphia, before switching to West Point Mint starting in 2001. The multi-faceted pressure of COVID-19, growing demand for the coins, and staffing limitations as a result of the pandemic required the assistance of the Philadelphia Mint with emergency coining, a process that has extended into early 2021 as well.
Obverse
On the obverse of these 2021 (P) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins is a depiction of Walking Liberty. The design from Adolph A. Weinman was created in 1916 and used on the US half dollar until 1947. It features a left-profile image of Liberty walking toward the sun on the horizon. Inscriptions on this face include Liberty, In God We Trust, and 2021.
Reverse
The reverse side of 2021 (P) American Eagle Silver Coins comes with the design of the heraldic eagle. In this version of the design, the bald eagle supports the US national shield while clutching the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons. The eagle has a triangular cluster of 13 stars over its head in this design. Inscriptions here read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, and 1 oz. Fine Silver One Dollar.
History
American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins mark the 35th anniversary of the series. The release is unique in more ways than one because the date mark is not only an anniversary date mark, but it is also the first to feature a redesign. The reverse of the coins will get a new image by mid-2021.
