Obverse
Walking Liberty is depicted on the obverse of 2021 (P) American Eagle Silver Coins. The design of Walking Liberty was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman and shows Liberty walking toward the sun as she carries the branches of oak and laurel in her left hand. The American flag is draped around her figure. Inscriptions on this face of the coin include Liberty, In God We Trust, and 2021.
Reverse
For the final time in the series, the heraldic eagle of the United States features on the reverse side of the 2021 (P) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins in this Monster Box. The design was modified for this series in 1986 by John Mercanti and depicts a bald eagle supporting the US national shield. The eagle clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons. The inscriptions on this side of the coin read United States of America and 1 oz. Fine Silver – One Dollar.
History
The Philadelphia Mint last issued BU American Eagle Silver Coins in 2000. It would not strike the coins again until 2020 as the US Mint turned to all three branch facilities to ever strike the coins to help meet demand amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The coins do not have mint marks from the Philadelphia Mint, but the Monster Boxes are typically identifiable as Philadelphia Mint products based on the serial numbers used on the boxes.
