The Australian Chinese Myths & Legends Series is a new collection from the Perth Mint. It picks up where previous Chinese culture-themed designs left off, such as the Dragon & Tiger or Dragon & Phoenix. In a fitting launch, the series starts with the mythical Chinese dragon. Right now, you can buy 2021 Proof Australian Chinese Myths & Legends Dragon 2 oz Silver Coins online at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
With your purchase of the 2021 Proof Australian Chinese Myths & Legends Dragon 2 oz Silver Coin at Provident Metals, you will receive a coin that is packaged inside of a clear, acrylic display. The black case comes with an acrylic lid that protects the coin while on display. The coin and its case come inside of a themed shipping box with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. The high-relief strike of the coin results in greater 3D relief on the design and deeper visuals for the background field.
Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse of 2021 Proof Australian Chinese Myths & Legends Dragon 2 oz Silver Coins. The Queens portrait was created in 2015 by Jody Clark and comes with the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head. The inscriptions on this face include ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 2 DOLLARS, 2 OZ 9999 AG, and 2021.
Reverse
A coiled dragon is found in the reverse design of the 2021 Proof Australian Chinese Myths & Legends Dragon Silver Coin. The coiled dragon is shown amidst the clouds, the realm of the dragon. The beast has a flaming pearl in its claws. There are two inscriptions on this side of the coin that include the NM initials of Natasha Muhl and the P mint mark of the Perth Mint.
History
The Chinese dragon has many associations in Chinese culture. One of the most important is its association with the Emperor of China. As a symbol of Chinese imperial authority, the dragon became associated with rulers when the Yellow Emperor was immortalized as a dragon following his death. It was later taken up by future emperors as a symbol of their connection to the Yellow Emperor and the authority of the ruler.
