Obverse
On the obverse field of 2021 Proof Colorized Dream Down Under Koala 1/2 oz Silver Coins is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. In a design by Jody Clark, Her Majesty is shown facing the right side and wearing the George IV State Diadem. This is the crown she wore for her coronation in 1953. You will see inscriptions along the side of the obverse reading ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 50 CENTS, 2021.
Reverse
The reverse side of 2021 Proof Colorized Australian Dream Down Under Koala Silver Coins depicts a sleeping baby koala. This image is truly irresistible. The koala is shown lying on its back and resting against a fleece blanket inside a twig basket. Elise Martinson is credited with this beautiful design. Her initials are inscribed, as well as the letter P for Perth. Youll also see 1/2 OZ .9999 SILVER inscribed on the lower portion of the coin.
History
The Dreaming Down Under Series is a collection of coins from the Perth Mint released in 2021. Five coins were released in total, all of which feature various depictions of sleeping baby animals. In addition to the koala, the other Joeys chosen for the series are the kangaroo, wombat, dingo, and Tasmanian devil.
