History
The Grand Palais began construction in 1897. Located in Paris, this magnificent structure is notable for its steel-glass Beaux-Arts design. This architectural style was heavily taught at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts schools in France from the 1830s until around 1900. It is inspired by French neoclassicism while also drawing on Renaissance and Baroque techniques. In its storied history, the Palais has served as an exhibition hall for artists, a hospital during World War I, and as the headquarters for the Paris Resistance during the Second World War.
