History

In 1895, British zoologist Charles E. Hose discovered a dolphin skull on the Asian island of Borneo. After donating it to the British Museum, the skull lay dormant until scientist Francis Fraser conducted a study of it in 1956. Realizing that it was distinct from both the Lagenorhynchus and Delphinus, Fraser established a new genus known as Lagenodelphis hosei, or Frasers Dolphin.
