Each year that the United States Mint issues the American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin to investors, it is the West Point Mint that is responsible for the primary coining of the bullion specimens. However, when demand begins to stretch the capacity of the West Point branch, the US Mint turns to the original branch facility to issue the coins: San Francisco. The San Francisco Mint offers supplemental coining when needed to support the demand for American Eagle Silver Coins. Right now, you can buy 2021 (S) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins online at Provident Metals in near-perfect condition.

With your purchase of a 2021 (S) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin in this Provident Metals listing, you will receive a coin that has earned a near-perfect grade. The PCGS assigns a Mint State 69 certification to coins that exhibit full, original mint luster and come with no more than two minor detracting flaws. Acceptable flaws at this level are limited to only minuscule contact marks or hairlines and must be found outside the primary focal points of the coin. The included First Strike label is only for coins received for grading within 30 days following the release by the US Mint.

Obverse

The obverse of 2021 (S) American Eagle Silver Coins depicts Walking Liberty. Adolph A. Weinmans greatest design featuring Liberty was submitted to the US Mint in 1916 for consideration as a replacement of the Barber Coinage designs on the dime, quarter, and half dollar. It was chosen for the half dollar that year and graced the coin through 1947. This depiction of Liberty walking in left-profile relief wrapped in the American flag comes with inscriptions of Liberty, In God We Trust, and 2021.

Reverse

On the reverse side of 2021 (S) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins, you will find John Mercantis version of the heraldic eagle of the United States for the final time. Slated for replacement in mid-2021, the heraldic eagle depicts a bald eagle supporting the US national shield as it clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons. The inscriptions on this side read United States of America and 1 oz. Fine Silver One Dollar.

History

Only three mints have ever struck BU American Eagle Silver Coins. The San Francisco Mint struck the coins from 1986 to 1998 and has offered supplemental coining as of 2011. The Philadelphia Mint issued the coins in 1999 and 2000, as well as a two-week period in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic when emergency coining capacity was needed to meet sky-high demand. The West Point Mint has issued the coins since 2001.
