American Eagle Silver Coins are struck in the millions each year with the final mintage tallies determined by the demand and interest of investors. In the past decade, the coin series has seen record highs in demand, years of sluggish interest, and a massive spike in demand in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout it all, the San Francisco Mint stepped in to assist the West Point Mint in producing enough coins to meet the demands of investors. Today, you have the chance to purchase perfect condition 2021 (S) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The San Francisco Mint was the original center of production for American Eagle Silver Coins from 1986 to 1998. Although the West Point Mint is now charged with striking the coins, the San Francisco Mint resumed supplemental coining in 2011. When needed, the US Mint turns to San Francisco to provide additional coining. Though none of the BU specimens have a mint mark, the straps that enclose the Monster Boxes the US Mint ships the coins in, as well as serial numbers on the boxes, identify the mint of origin. This allows dealers to identify coins as coming from San Francisco rather than West Point.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2021 (S) American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins is Adolph A. Weinmans depiction of Walking Liberty. Her figure is featured in left-profile relief with the American flag draped around her frame as she walks toward the sun with her right hand outstretched. Inscriptions on this face read Liberty, In God We Trust, and 2021.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2021 (S) American Eagle Silver Coin features the heraldic eagle design. Modernized for this series in 1986 by John Mercanti, it is a 20th-century take on an 18th-century emblem representing the federal government. A bald eagle is shown in front-facing relief with wings stretched in support of the US national shield. The inscriptions here include United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, and 1 oz. Fine Silver – One Dollar.
History
The 2021 release is the final American Eagle Silver Coin to use the heraldic eagle on the reverse. In a US Mint first, the design on the reverse of the silver coin is changing midyear to mark the 35th anniversary of the series. The new American bald eagle design will carry on into the future as the Mercanti design is retired.
