As the United States Mint marks the centennial of its 1921 release of Morgan Dollars, five mints are represented in the release of these modern silver bullion Morgan Dollars. While three of those mint facilities are still operating within the US Mint branch system today, two have since closed and were represented by privy-marked coins. The San Francisco Mint was one of just two branch mints to issue the coins every year and released its own 2021 Morgan Dollar in honor of that history. Provident Metals currently has certified-perfect 2021-S Morgan Dollar Silver Coins available to you for purchase online.
When you purchase a 2021-S Morgan Dollar Silver Coin online from Provident Metals, you will receive a coin that is housed in a plastic slab and graded Mint State 70 by the NGC. Considered a perfect specimen, each one of these coins showcases full, original mint luster with no detractions of any kind present. Early Release designations are for coins received for grading within 30 days of release from the US Mint.
The obverse of 2021-S Morgan Dollar Silver Coins includes a depiction of Lady Liberty. This left-profile relief features a vision of Liberty inspired by Anna Willess Williams and shows Liberty with a Phrygian cap, a laurel wreath, and a coronet. The coronet has an inscription of LIBERTY on it, with other inscriptions on this side reading E PLURIBUS UNUM and 2021.
On the reverse side of the 2021-S Morgan Dollar Silver Coin is a vision of the heraldic eagle. A classic symbol of the United States, this version of the seal from George T. Morgan shows the bald eagle in front-facing relief as it clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons. The design field includes inscriptions of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and ONE DOLLAR. The S mint mark of the San Francisco Mint is found on this field just above the D and O in DOLLAR.
The San Francisco Mint issued Morgan Dollars from 1878 to 1904 and again in 1921. The Philadelphia Mint was the only other branch mint to issue the coins in all of these dates. The San Francisco Mint opened in 1854 and has been in its current building since 1937.
