History

From 1986 to 1992, the San Francisco Mint was the exclusive home of the Proof American Eagle Silver Coin. From 1993 to 2000, the Philadelphia Mint issued the coins. Since 2001, the West Point Mint has been the home of Proof American Eagle production, though San Francisco resumed supplemental coining of both BU and Proof coins in 2011 and 2018, respectively.
