Several of these collections from the Pressburg Mint first debuted as silver rounds. In fact, all of the collections except for the Equilibrium Series were available as silver rounds first. The Chronos Series debuted in 2015, with the Terra and Vivat Humanitas collections debuting later. In 2018, the Equilibrium Series debuted as a legal tender silver coin, while the Chronos Series transitioned to a legal tender silver coin collection in 2019. In 2020, the other collections joined the movement to legal tender as well.

Obverse

On the obverse side of 2021 Tokelau Chronos 1/10 oz Gold Coins is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is featured here in right-profile relief in the 1998 design from Ian Rank-Broadley. The Queens effigy is set at the center of the design field with two clock mechanisms depicted beneath her portrait. There is an infinity symbol throughout the background field with a laurel wreath around the edge of the design field. Inscriptions on this side read 10 DOLLARS, 2021, ELIZABETH II, and TOKELAU.

Reverse

The reverse field of the 2021 Tokelau Chronos Gold Coins features an all-new clock design for 2021. The design field features the same infinity feature in the background field, with mermaids and anchors within the central field. The ornate hands of the clock point towards a design edge that includes Roman numerals for the hour marks. The exception is the metallic symbol AU at the top of the design field. Other inscriptions on this field include CHRONOS, 1/10 OZ, FINE GOLD, and 9999.

History

The 2021 release of the Tokelau Chronos Gold Coin is the first-ever issue a gold bullion coin. In the first issue of a gold bullion version of the coin, the mint offers a 1/10 oz weight.
