This new design shows the bald eagle swooping down into the design field with its wings flexed behind its figure and a large oak branch in its talons. Inscriptions on this face of the coin read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER, ONE DOLLAR, and the W mint mark of the West Point Mint.

History

Emily Damstra is the designer of the new Type 2 design for the American Eagle Silver Coin. Ms. Damstra has previously worked with the Royal Canadian Mint and the United States Mint on various bullion coin productions.
