This historic design has been around since 1907 when Augustus Saint-Gaudens created it for the $20 Double Eagle Gold Coin. It features a front-facing relief of Liberty carrying a large torch and an olive branch. The background field offers a view of the U.S. Capitol Building with sun rays and a ring of 50 stars. The inscriptions include LIBERTY and 2021.

Reverse

For the reverse of the coins in the 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold 2-Coin Designer Set, you will find both the old and new designs for the series. The original 1986 design from Miley Busiek features on the Type 1 coin, while the new design from Jennie Norris features on the Type 2 coin.
