In 2021, the United States Mint took two rare steps in the production of its American Eagle Gold Coins. First and foremost, the mint issued a new reverse design for the first time in the history of the series. Secondly, it did so only after issuing the design from Miley Busiek one final time through the first half of the year. Today, you have the opportunity to get 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coins in near-perfect condition online from Provident Metals.
Proof American Eagle Gold Coins were one of two versions of the American Eagle Gold Coin issued during the first half of 2021. As the US Mint celebrated the 35th anniversary of the series, the Type 1 coins with the original reverse design from Miley Busiek were issued only in BU and Proof. With the debut of the 2021 Type 2 coins, the BU, Proof, and Burnished versions were all issued.
On the obverse of 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coins is a portrait of Liberty. Designed in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, it shows Libertys full-length figure in front-facing relief as she walks toward you with a troch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The inscriptions include LIBERTY, 2021, and the W mint mark of the West Point Mint.
The reverse side of the 2021-W Proof American Eagle Gold Coins comes with an image of the American bald eagle. The left-profile portrait of the head of the eagle with sharp details for its physical characteristics and layered detail for its plumage. The inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD, and 5 DOLLARS.
The release of the new design on the American Eagle Gold Coins comes from artist Jennie Norris. A member of the United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program, Ms. Norris is a gifted graphic artist who has worked with several major brands on designs for various products.
These 2021-W Proof American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Type 2 Coins have PR69 grades. Coins in this condition have full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor flaws. Acceptable flaws at this grade include minuscule contact marks or hairlines, with those flaws limited to the areas outside of the primary focal points of the coin.
