The 2021 American Eagle Gold Coins earned the PF70 certification from the NGC. This identifies a coin as having no post-production imperfections at 5 times magnification and is awarded to a very small percentage of proof coins. Additionally enhancing the value of these coins are its UCAM and Early Release designations. These coins have been struck with 22-karat gold, and bear the W mint mark of the West Point Mint, on the obverse.

Obverse

The obverse of the 2021 American Eagle Gold Coin features the Augustus Saint-Gaudens design of a walking Lady Liberty. This full-length figure of Lady Liberty portrays her flowing hair, holding a torch in her extended right hand and an olive branch in her left.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2021 American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins features the original design from Miley Busiek. In this design, a male eagle flies above the nest with branches in its talons as it approaches a nest with a female and hatchling.

History

American Eagle Gold Coins were made available in 1986 after Ronald Reagan signed the Gold Bullion Coin Act into law in 1985. American Eagle Gold Coins come in four weights each year, with three versions of the coin available to investors and collectors.
