Obverse

The obverse design on the 2021-W Proof American Eagle Silver Coin features the well-known Walking Liberty image from Adolph A. Weinman. Liberty walks confidently toward the horizon with the American flag wrapped around her shoulders. As of 2021, Weinmans signature is once again visible on the lower right portion of the obverse. The inscriptions include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 2021.

Reverse

On the reverse of 2021-W Proof Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins, you will find the new bald eagle design created by Emily Damstra. The eagle is captured mid-flight with an oak branch secured in its talons. The coins inscriptions encircle the image and include details about its origin and specifications. The inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR, and 1 OZ. FINE SILVER.

History

The United States Mint produced two distinct versions of the Silver Eagle in 2021. Type 1 coins continued with John Mercantis heraldic eagle. These Type 2 coins introduce Damstras fresh eagle design, making them an important part of the 35th anniversary year and a notable update to the series.
