It originally featured on the US half dollar from 1916 to 1947 and has featured on the American Eagle Silver Coin since 1986. Inscriptions include Liberty, In God We Trust, 2021, and AW.

Reverse

On the reverse side of the 2021 Proof American Eagle 1 oz Silver Type 2 Coin is the new bald eagle design. Created by Emily Damstra, it features the bald eagle soaring through the design element with its wings flexed back and its talons clutching an oak branch. The inscriptions on this side read United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, and 1 oz. Fine Silver – One Dollar.

History

The Type 2 release comes with the addition of Weinmans original signature mark on the obverse, as evidenced by the new AW inscription on that side. The coins also have a reeded edge variation that provides anti-counterfeiting measures.
