The RMS Titanic was built between 1908 and early 1912. Before it even was put out to sea for the first time, the ship had earned a reputation for being unsinkable. This false sense of security came from the advanced safety features of the day included in its design. Most notably, this included watertight compartments and watertight doors that could be remotely activated in the event of a breach.

Obverse

On the obverse side of 2022 Antique Titanic 1912 50 Gram Copper Coins, you will find the right-profile effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in the 1998 design from Ian Rank-Broadley that includes the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara on her head. Other design elements on this side include both side and overhead views of the Titanics schematic maps, and the route it traveled between Southampton, UK, and New York City, USA. The star on the route marks the point where it sunk along the route. Inscriptions include ELIZABETH II, 1 DOLLAR, COOK ISLANDS, and 2022.

Reverse

The reverse face of the 2022 Antique Cook Islands Titanic 1912 Copper Coin comes with an ultra-high-relief view of the RMS Titanic. In this design, the Titanic maneuvers between icebergs in the Atlantic Ocean. The design field includes an inscription of TITANIC.

History

The RMS Titanic was on the fourth day of its journey when it struck an iceberg around 11:40 PM on April 14, 1912. The iceberg ripped a long gouge in the hull of the Titanic, compromising several of its forward watertight compartments and overwhelming the watertight design of the ship. Within 160 minutes, the Titanic would split in two at the surface and sink to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

Ordering

These 2022 Antique Cook Islands Titanic 1912 50 Gram Copper Coins are available to you in capsules with an included window box display and a Certificate of Authenticity. Each one has an antique finish with coal that was actually recovered from the wreck of the Titanic integrated into the coin.
