On the obverse field of 2022 Antique Niue Triton 2 oz Coins, there is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Ian Rank-Broadley is credited with this magnificent effigy, which showcases the Queen in right-profile relief wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. Youll see inscriptions along the edges that read ELIZABETH II, NIUE ISLAND, 5 DOLLARS, 2022, AG, .999.

On the reverse side of 2022 Antique Niue Triton Silver Coins, we see Triton engaged in battle with a sea monster. With his muscular physique, flowing hair, and trident, Triton gives off a powerful, authoritative presence. Inscribed at the top of the field is the word TRITON.

Most people today know Triton from popular movies like The Little Mermaid and Jason and the Argonauts. However, Triton has appeared in stories for thousands of years and can be traced back to Hesiods Theogony composed around 700 BC. Triton was known as the son of Poseidon and Amphitrite and was depicted as part man, part fish. In later literary depictions, he is often seen with a conch that he blows to both calm and disrupt the sea.
