The reverse features an extravagant tribute to Rapa Nui built around a symbol of themanutara,the sacred “luck bird” at the heart of the island’s ancient spiritual traditions, surrounded by the inscriptions “Rapa Nui” and “300 Years.” Radiating out on three sides are stylized miniatures of great Moai statues arrayed like the spokes of a wheel, framing a montage of historical scenes. Standing out vividly on a fourth side are two Moai in three-dimensional detail, dominating the foreground.

Obverse

The obverse features an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II along with the inscription “Samoa.” Its bottom edge shows a Samoan coat of arms with the inscriptions “1 kg,” the coin’s weight, and “Ag999,” confirming the quality of the silver.
