The gold coins in this series are individually sealed in these capsules and come with a Certificate of Authenticity from Geiger Edelmetalle. The COA offers authentication details that include the weight, purity, metal content, and individual serial number of each coin in the series. The COA is also signed by both the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia and the mint director.
Obverse
The obverse of 2022 Noahs Ark 1 oz Gold Coins depicts the coat of arms of the Republic of Armenia. The design features a quartered shield with heraldic eagles and heraldic lions in the four quadrants. The center of the shield features a smaller emblem with the image of Noahs ark atop Mount Ararat. The larger shield is supported by a heraldic eagle and a heraldic lion. The inscriptions on this side include 50,000 DRAM, 2022, 1 OZ AU 999.9, and REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA, the latter of which is engraved in both English and Armenian.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 2022 Armenian Noahs Ark Gold Coin is an image of Noahs ark. This design from Eduard Kurghinyan features on all silver and gold coins in the series. It shows the ark with Mount Ararat in the background as the sun rises over its peak. There is a dove in the foreground with an olive branch in its beak. The inscriptions on this side include only NOAHS ARK, again in both English and Armenian.
History
The Armenian Noahs Ark Silver Coins debuted in 2011 with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, and 1/4 oz silver options. This series expanded in 2012 with the introduction of 5 oz, 10 oz, 1 Kilo, and 5 Kilo coins. In 2020, the mint introduced four gold bullion versions of the coin in weights of 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1 Gram gold.
