In 2020, Perth Mint introduced a new series of gold and silver coins honoring the famous feral horses. These horses have managed to survive as a feral breed for more than two centuries now and thrive, for better or worse, in the 21st century. Today, you have the opportunity to buy 2022 Australian Brumby 1 oz Silver Coins online from Provident Metals.
The term brumby does not refer to a recognized breed or species of horse. Instead, this term is used by Australians to refer to the bands of feral horses that have resided on the Australian continent since the early 1800s.
On the obverse side of 2022 Brumby 1 oz Silver Coins, you will find a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty has reigned as the Queen of England and head of the Commonwealth Nations since 1952. This sixth-generation portrait for Australian coins was created in 2015 for the Royal Mint by Jody Clark. The inscriptions on this side of the coin read ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, and 1 DOLLAR.
The reverse field of the 2022 Australian Brumby Silver Coin comes with a depiction of the namesake feral horses. In this design, the brumby is standing near a tree on the rocky landscape. The horse is looking back toward its tail as it raises up its front-left hoof. The inscriptions on this side include AUSTRALIAN BRUMBY, 2022 1 OZ 9999 SILVER, and the P mint mark of Perth Mint. This side of the coin also features a micro-laser engraved security letter that is not visible without the aid of magnification.
Brumby horses originated from herds of draft horses and other work horses brought to Australia by Europeans. Many of the modern horses are descended from domesticated horses that escaped or were purposely released from ranches and farms in the early 1800s.
2022 Australian Brumby 1 oz Silver Coins are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. These coins are individually encapsulated, with multiples offered in sealed rolls of 20 or boxes of 100. The box holds five rolls of 20 coins each.
