The horse is looking back toward its tail as it raises up its front-left hoof. The inscriptions on this side include AUSTRALIAN BRUMBY, 2022 1 OZ 9999 SILVER, and the P mint mark of Perth Mint. This side of the coin also features a micro-laser engraved security letter that is not visible without the aid of magnification.

History

Brumby horses originated from herds of draft horses and other work horses brought to Australia by Europeans. Many of the modern horses are descended from domesticated horses that escaped or were purposely released from ranches and farms in the early 1800s.
