History

These 2 oz coins are special releases from Perth Mint. This coin marks the first-ever issue of a reverse-gilded coin. Rather than applying 24-karat gold in thin layers on a single design element, Perth has applied it to the entirety of the background field on both sides, leaving just one design feature in pure silver visuals. The larger kangaroo in the foreground on the reverse and Queen Elizabeth IIs effigy on the obverse are the remaining silver visual elements in the coin fields.
