Perth Mint introduced the Lunar Series in 1996 with its first collection of gold and silver coins. The Lunar Series I program started in 1996 and ran through 2007, with a 2008 issue featuring the Year of the Mouse as a bridge to the Lunar Series II collection. The Lunar Series II collection ran from 2008 to 2019, with the gold and silver coins each offering a different design from the previous collection. Reverse
The reverse field of 2022 Australian Lunar Tiger Gold Coins features a depiction of a large tiger. In this design, the image of the tiger is shown with its powerful frame stretched across a rock ledge as it looks back behind its frame and roars. The large jaws of the cat are shown as it exposes its razor-sharp teeth. Inscriptions on this face include the Chinese symbol for the tiger and the words TIGER 2022.

The Lunar Series III program features various gold options in the Year of the Tiger release. These coins include 10 oz gold, 2 oz gold, 1 oz gold, 1/2 oz gold, 1/4 oz gold, 1/10 oz gold, and 1/20 oz gold.
