Obverse
The obverse of 2022 Australian Lunar Tiger Silver Coins features an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is captured in this 2015 design from Jody Clark at the age of 89 wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head. The image is the first on Australian coins since 1966 to include the Queens shoulders in the portrait. The inscriptions on this face of the coin read ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 1/2 OZ 9999 AG, and 50 CENTS.
Reverse
On the reverse field of 2022 Australian Lunar Tiger 1/2 oz Silver Coins is a depiction of a family of tigers. In the foreground, an adult tiger is alertly and cautiously leading its young, playful cub along rocky terrain in the jungle. The background features foliage within the jungle that includes bamboo. The inscriptions on this face include a P mint mark, the Chinese symbol for the tiger, and TIGER 2022.
History
The coins in the silver series are available in six options. The 10 Kilo coin is the largest and will be struck to order with a maximum mintage of 100 coins. The 1 oz silver coin has a mintage of 300,000. All other weights have an unlimited mintage.
