2022 is the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese Lunar Calendar. The tiger was the third animal to arrive at the meeting with the Jade Emperor and was honored with the third position in the Zodiac as such. There are five distinct versions of the tiger to feature in the lunar calendar, including those representing Earth, wood, water, fire, and gold. 2022 is the Year of the Water Tiger and marks its first appearance since 1962.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2022 Australian Lunar Tiger Gold Coins is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is featured here in the sixth-generation portrait from Jody Clark that was designed in 2015. It shows the Queen at the age of 89 with the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head. The inscriptions on this face of the coin include ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 1/20 OZ 9999 AU, and 5 DOLLARS.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2022 Australian Lunar Tiger 1/20 oz Gold Coin comes with a depiction of the tiger. Considered one of the most powerful beasts in Chinese culture, the tiger is both a symbol of good luck and of power. The tiger shown here is walking the edge of a rock cliff with its strong paws and sharp claws offering it the grip it needs to stay on top. Inscriptions on this side of the coin read TIGER, 2022, the P mint mark of the Perth Mint, and the Chinese symbol for the tiger.
History
The Lunar Series III program started in 2022. While it features the familiar weights of the existing gold and silver collections, it also delivers the first-ever platinum bullion coin in the history of lunar collections at Perth Mint.

These 2022 Australian Lunar Tiger 1/20 oz Gold Coins are available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. All coins are individually encapsulated, with multiples of 20 sealed together in rolls.
