Obverse
On the obverse of 2022 Australian Lunar Tiger 2 oz Gold Coins is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief in a design that was created in 2015 by Jody Clark. Originally introduced on Royal Mint coins, the design came to Australian coins in 2018 as the sixth-generation portrait of the Queen and is the first since 1966 to include her shoulders in the portrait field. The inscriptions include ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 2 OZ 9999 AU, and 200 DOLLARS.
Reverse
The reverse side of 2022 Australian Lunar Tiger Gold Coins features an image of a tiger. This depiction of the beast shows the powerful tiger standing along a rock ledge as its massive paws provide grip and traction on the rocks. The tiger is shown looking back over its frame with its mouth open to show off its large, sharp teeth. The inscriptions on this field read TIGER 2022 and P as the Perth Mint mark. There is also a Chinese symbol for the tiger on this side.
History
The 2022 Australian Lunar Tiger Coins are offered with unlimited mintages for several weights in the series. These 2 oz gold coins come with an unlimited mintage. This simply means that Perth will strike the coins into 2022 until the next design in the series is available, at which point the production of the Lunar Tiger designs will stop.
