The current habitat range of the dingo extends across much of Australia, but there are portions of the region in which you will not find dingoes. They are currently absent from southeastern Australia, Tasmania, and a portion of southwestern Australia as well. The primary food source for dingoes are other species from the red kangaroo to birds, reptiles, fish, and frogs. Though dingoes are the largest extant terrestrial predators in Australia, the species faces competition for food sources in the world with the quoll, European red foxes, and feral cats.

Obverse

Queen Elizabeth II is depicted in right-profile relief on the obverse side of 2022 Australian Mother & Baby Dingo Silver Coins. Her Majesty is shown here at the age of 89 wearing the George IV State Diadem. This design was created for the Royal Mint in 2015 by Jody Clark and has been in use on Australian coins from Perth Mint as of 2018. Inscriptions include ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 10 OZ 9999 AG, 2022, and 10 DOLLARS.

Reverse

Two dingoes are featured in the reverse field of 2022 Mother & Baby Dingo 10 oz Silver Coins. This design from Aleysha Howarth shows the two seated next to one another as the young pup looks up at its mother. The inscriptions include only a P mint mark from Perth Mint.

History

The Mother & Baby Dingo design is the fifth in this series. Each date mark offers one design, with the series starting in 2018 with the Koala and continuing to the present with the Crocodile, Kookaburra, and Platypus. Each coin comes with radial lines in the background of the obverse and reverse, as well as a micro-laser engraved security element on the reverse that is visible only under magnification.
